Calvary Health Care was seeking professional services to undertake the design and documentation for the establishment of a stroke unit. We worked with the Barmco Mana Partnership to ensure the successful delivery of the refurbishments with the least interruption to the hospital’s operation, their staff and clients.
SQC ARCHITECTURE’S SOLUTION
We undertook user group consultations to understand how the spaces would work, including appropriate fittings, fixtures and aesthetics. This engagement resulted in the design of the Stroke Specific Room that consolidated two rooms to create a four bed stroke unit with a two person staff station and associated equipment and storage. One bed allows for bariatric stroke care and the existing ensuite was upgraded to meet bariatric stroke care requirements. A new track/support system connects each bed to the ensuite (bariatric capable). Services adjustments were considered and designed to work with the room’s function. Refurbishment of the room’s finishes, fittings and fixtures were fit for purpose.
